All the litter bags need to be gently cleaned after incubation in the soil. We will test how to do it fast and efficient, so first we need some half-decomposed bags. They are ‘getting ready’ in a plant pot inside!
Preparations of field material for the decomposition study in 40+ sites finished! We made 1500 decomposition bags and prepared 150 frames with 200 larger bags.
This is an ecologist cup of tea! We will use the Tea Bag method in the REPEAT project to assess the decomposition rate in the sites. Later this can be compared with a large data set across biomes and all over the globe. Fingers crossed whether (and how) this will work!
